The 2021 census counted eight residents and four dwellings across the whole four square kilometres, and the Bureau of Statistics withholds the rest of the detail because the count is too small to publish. Our Local KNowledge

COMMON PESTS IN CAROLE PARK

Carole Park is the only suburb in this part of Ipswich that stopped being residential on a specific date. In June 2010 the housing north and east of the Logan Motorway was transferred to Brisbane City and renamed Ellen Grove. What was left is wholly industrial and wholly inside Ipswich City. It explains every odd number you will see quoted about this place, and it is why any population figure above a thousand you find on a property website is a pre-2010 figure describing a suburb that no longer exists in that form.

What is here now is one of the denser concentrations of food and materials manufacturing in South East Queensland. Cooked egg products, sauces and syrups, biscuits and snack foods, meat processing, a very large corrugated box plant, tissue and paper manufacture, fibre cement, batteries, steel, mattresses, pharmaceuticals, and a long list of transport and logistics operators running palletised freight through tilt-panel warehouses. The Carole Park Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in stages from 1971. Tenancies change, so we do not assume what is in a building from its address.

That mix produces a very specific pest profile and it is not the one a residential suburb produces. Food manufacturing and meat processing drive cockroach and fly pressure. Paper, cardboard and tissue give rodents both harbourage and nesting material in the same building. Palletised warehousing creates voids nothing reaches from the outside. Transport depots move pests between sites on the freight itself. And a sewage treatment plant in the same suburb is a standing source of fly and rodent activity for everything around it.

Termites

TERMITE INSPECTIONS IN CAROLE PARK

Termites do more damage to Australian buildings each year than fire, flood and storms put together, and no insurer covers it. CSIRO’s national termite survey rates this region high hazard. Commercial buildings are not exempt from that. They simply get inspected far less often than houses do, which is why damage in a warehouse is usually well advanced by the time anyone notices it.

On an industrial site we work the perimeter slab and its edge, expansion joints, service penetrations, office fit-outs, mezzanine and rack timber, pallet storage, fence lines and any landscaping against the building. Coptotermes acinaciformis nests in stumps and tree bases and forages up to 50 metres, and on a large industrial lot that radius takes in retained trees, the verge and the neighbouring property’s boundary.

The thing worth knowing about a warehouse is that timber inside it is often invisible. Office partition framing, door jambs, skirting in a site office, stored pallets and racking dunnage all sit out of sight behind steel and plasterboard, and none of it gets looked at during normal operations. The QBCC sets annual inspection as the minimum in high hazard areas, and that applies to a commercial building as much as a home.

What you get

What's Included in a Pest Treatment

A commercial job is scoped to the site rather than sold as a package. We walk the building with you first, agree what gets treated and what gets monitored, and work around production hours, food handling requirements and any audit standard you report against.

Treatment covers internal voids, wall and floor junctions, plant and equipment surrounds, amenities, bin areas, loading docks, roller door tracks, the external perimeter and the yard. Rodent stations are placed and mapped rather than scattered, so the documentation actually means something at audit. Where food is handled we use products and placements suited to that environment and tell you plainly what is going where.

You get a documented service report with a site plan, station locations and findings, issued the same day. For sites under an audited food safety programme, that paperwork is usually the part that matters most, so it is written to be handed straight to an auditor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Carole Park Pest Control FAQs

The things people ask us most before they book.

How much does pest control cost in Carole Park?

Commercial work is quoted on the site, because floor area, what you handle and how often you need us all change the job. Call 1300 545 489, tell us the building size and what happens inside it, and we will come and look before quoting. The quote is free and the number we give is the number you pay.

Do you service food manufacturing sites?

Yes, and a good deal of the work in this suburb is exactly that. Food handling changes which products can be used, where they can be placed and how the service is documented. It also changes the service interval, because a monthly or fortnightly cycle is usually what an audit expects rather than an annual visit. Tell us what standard you report against and we will write the reporting to suit it.

Does anyone actually live in Carole Park?

Almost nobody. The 2021 census counted eight people in four dwellings, and the Bureau of Statistics publishes nothing further because the population is too small. The reason is the June 2010 boundary change, which moved the residential half of the old Carole Park into Brisbane City and renamed it Ellen Grove. If you live in what you think of as Carole Park, you are most likely in Ellen Grove now, and we cover that too.

Is Carole Park State School in Carole Park?

No, and it is the most common local mix-up. After the 2010 boundary change the school ended up in Wacol. The name stayed put while the boundary moved, which happens more often than people expect and is worth knowing if you are trying to work out which suburb an address is actually in.

We keep getting rodents in the warehouse. Why?

Usually one of four things in this suburb. Incoming freight and pallets carrying them in, which is the most common by a distance. Cardboard and paper stored in bulk, which is both food-adjacent harbourage and nesting material. Roller doors and dock seals left open or worn, which is the easiest to fix. And pressure from neighbouring sites, since a whole suburb of food and waste handling means there is always a source nearby. We work out which it is rather than just adding more bait.

Did Carole Park flood?

Carole Park does not appear in Ipswich City Council’s 2022 flood review list of damage-affected suburbs, though neighbouring Gailes does. We could not verify its 2011 status either way, and being absent from a damage list is not the same as never taking water. For a specific site, Ipswich City Council’s flood mapping is the right tool.

What does the 12-month warranty cover?

General pest treatments carry twelve months, with free re-treatment of anything named on the certificate that returns in that time. Ongoing commercial programmes work differently, on a scheduled cycle with reporting rather than a single treatment and a warranty period, and we will explain which suits your site. Termite work and rodent programmes are quoted separately. The detail is in our terms and conditions.
