Our Local KNowledge
COMMON PESTS IN CEDAR GROVE
Cedar Grove takes its name from the cedar and other timber that once covered the district heavily, before small dairy farms gradually gave way to rural-residential acreage from the late 1970s. The Big Country estate subdivided land west of the old railway into four to five hectare acreage lots in 1979, and a cheese factory once operated on Cedar Grove Road from 1891, supplied by around 20 local dairy farmers. The suburb transferred from the Shire of Beaudesert into Logan City in 2008, along with its neighbours.
The Logan River forms the western and part of the northern boundary of Cedar Grove, and the Cedar Grove Weir, built on the river between 2007 and 2008, supplies water into the South East Queensland Water Grid, a genuine piece of regional water infrastructure unique to this locality among everything we cover nearby. Agricultural land flanks both sides of the residential strip in the centre of the suburb, a mixture of grazing and crop growing that is still active today.
There are no schools currently operating in Cedar Grove, the local school closed in 1965, with families relying on Woodhill State School and Flagstone or Beaudesert secondary schools instead. With genuine agricultural land on both flanks and river frontage running the length of the western boundary, Cedar Grove’s pest and termite pressure is shaped by working farmland as much as by residential housing.
Termites
TERMITE INSPECTIONS IN CEDAR GROVE
Termites do more damage to Australian homes annually than fire, flood and storms combined, a cost that lands entirely outside insurance cover. The CSIRO national termite survey rates this region high hazard, and a river-frontage property surrounded by working farmland carries substantially more of that risk than a standard suburban block. Coptotermes acinaciformis nests in stumps and tree bases and forages up to 50 metres, and grazing and crop land typically carries plenty of both along fence lines and windbreaks.
Because working farmland runs along both sides of most Cedar Grove blocks, the inspection goes beyond the house to fence posts, sheds and windbreak timber near the river or the weir, alongside the usual roof void, subfloor, internal walls and external perimeter, all checked with a moisture meter and thermal camera.
Given how many Cedar Grove homes sit on acreage originally subdivided in 1979, a good number are now well past the working life of any original barrier. The QBCC recommends annual inspections as a minimum in high hazard areas.
What you get
What's Included in a Pest Treatment
A proper treatment does not start and end with a lap of the yard. We begin inside, working the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, wardrobes and skirting boards, then move up into the roof void and down into the subfloor where one exists.
Outside covers the full perimeter, sheds, outbuildings, fence lines and garden beds, with webbing and wasp nests taken down and dust or bait pushed into voids no spray will reach. On a river-frontage or farm-adjacent property we extend the boundary check well beyond a standard yard.
Larger acreage and farm properties take longer than a standard house, and we will tell you honestly on the day roughly how much. The certificate goes out by email same day, and we log a reminder for your next visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cedar Grove Pest Control FAQs
The things people ask us most before they book.
How much does pest control cost in Cedar Grove?
It depends on the size and type of the property, a working farm block is a different job to a smaller acreage lot. Ring 1300 545 489, describe the property, and what we quote is what you pay, free either way.
Do you treat farm sheds and outbuildings, not just the house?
Yes, and it is standard practice here given how much of Cedar Grove is genuine agricultural and acreage land. Termites and rodents establish in unused sheds and fence-line timber long before reaching the house, so we check those areas as part of the job.
We're near the Logan River or the weir. What should we expect?
More mosquito activity after rain, more rodent and spider movement along the bank, and a genuine termite risk from mature riverside vegetation. The Cedar Grove Weir is a piece of permanent water infrastructure, so treat the nearby boundary as an ongoing feature of the property rather than a seasonal concern.
How often should I get a termite inspection in Cedar Grove?
Every 12 months at a minimum, and it matters more here given how much of the locality was subdivided into acreage back in 1979, old enough that a lot of original barriers are long expired. The QBCC recommends annual inspections in high hazard areas. Book a termite inspection and we will hold your reminder.
Is there a school in Cedar Grove?
No, the local school closed in 1965. Families generally use Woodhill State School and secondary schools in Flagstone or Beaudesert. It has no bearing on pest pressure, but it is a common question from residents confirming local services.
How quickly can you get to Cedar Grove?
Same day or the next in most cases, Saturdays included. Ring 1300 545 489 and flag anything urgent, a wasp nest, scratching in the roof, or termite damage just found, and it moves up the run.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Every standard treatment is backed for a full 12 months, and if anything listed on your certificate turns up again in that time, we come back and treat it at no cost. Termites and rodent baiting sit outside this warranty and are quoted and covered separately. Full wording is in our terms and conditions.
