Our Local KNowledge
COMMON PESTS IN DINMORE
The dominant fact about Dinmore is the JBS plant. It is the largest beef abattoir in the southern hemisphere, employing around 1,800 workers across two shifts, working toward 3,400 head of cattle a day, and processing roughly one in ten of all Australian cattle sent to slaughter. A 2024 intake of more than 300 staff spanned 47 nationalities. In a suburb of 1,109 people occupying barely a square kilometre, an operation on that scale shapes everything, including the demographics: the high rental share and low outright ownership here are the signature of workforce housing rather than a family suburb.
For pest control that matters in a specific way. A large meat processing operation is a genuine and permanent attractant for rodents, flies and birds, and that pressure does not respect the industrial boundary. It does not mean nearby homes will have a problem, but it does mean the background pressure arriving at those homes is higher than it would be somewhere else. Proofing, bin discipline and staying on a regular schedule matter more here as a result, and we would rather say that up front than pretend otherwise.
The name probably comes from Dinmore in England, with sources pointing to Hope under Dinmore in Herefordshire, though some suggest the Welsh Dinmawr meaning large hill. Coal came first, with the Old Aberdare colliery from 1870 and New Chum from 1882, and potteries and brickworks followed in the 1880s once high-quality clay was found. The railway station opened in 1884, the post office in 1885, and an 1887 auction subdivided 140 blocks as the Dinmore Township Estate. Dinmore State School closed at the end of 2009, so the suburb now has no school of its own.
Termites
TERMITE INSPECTIONS IN DINMORE
Termites do more damage to Australian homes annually than fire, flood and storms put together, and none of it is insurable. The CSIRO national termite survey marks this region high hazard. Dinmore’s housing has a long history behind it, dating back to the 1887 township subdivision, and the older stock predates any form of termite management system.
We cover the roof void, the subfloor where present, internal walls, the full external perimeter, fence lines and yard timber, using a moisture meter and thermal camera so nothing has to be opened up. In an attached townhouse we also assess the shared roof space and party walls, because a colony inside an attached row does not stop at the lot boundary. Coptotermes acinaciformis takes up in stumps and tree bases and ranges as far as 50 metres.
For industrial premises we include termite risk assessment inside a broader commercial contract, which matters to anyone responsible for structural timber, pallets or stored stock in a large building. Worth noting we are not going to write flood copy for Dinmore: the suburb sits between three highways rather than on a river frontage, and it did not appear in council’s suburb breakdown for the 2022 event. The QBCC asks for a licensed inspection and report once a year in high hazard areas, residential or commercial.
What you get
What's Included in a Pest Treatment
We do not turn up, spray the outside for ten minutes and call it a service. Inside comes first, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, wardrobes and skirting boards, then up into the roof void and down into the subfloor where one exists.
The external pass covers the perimeter, eaves, window and door frames, weep holes, fence lines and garden beds, with webbing and wasp nests taken down and dust or bait pushed into voids a spray cannot reach. On properties nearer the plant we pay particular attention to rodent entry points and fly harbourage, since that pressure here is constant rather than seasonal. For commercial sites we map and number rodent stations and provide documentation suited to food safety or lease compliance.
Most homes run 60 to 90 minutes. Commercial premises are quoted on the building rather than a rate card. Either way the certificate is emailed the same day, formatted for a property file where the home is rented.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dinmore Pest Control FAQs
The things people ask us most before they book.
How much does pest control cost in Dinmore?
It depends on whether it is a house, a townhouse or an industrial premises, and those are very different jobs. Phone 1300 545 489, describe the property, and the quote we give is the amount you pay, free either way. If you are within a few streets of the plant, mention it, because we will factor higher rodent and fly pressure into what we recommend.
Does the meatworks affect pests at nearby homes?
It raises the background pressure, and we would rather be straight about that. A processing operation of that size, with associated traffic and waste handling, generates reliable rodent, fly and bird activity, and that does not stop at the fence. It does not follow that your house will have a problem. It does mean more of everything is arriving at your boundary than would be the case elsewhere, so proofing entry points, keeping bins sealed and staying on a regular schedule does more work here than it would in a quiet inland suburb.
Do you service the industrial premises in Dinmore?
Yes. There is substantial industrial land here and we cover it with mapped and numbered rodent stations, scheduling that works around operations rather than through them, and documentation suited to food safety or lease compliance. Our commercial pest control page sets out how the programs are structured.
How often should I get a termite inspection in Dinmore?
Annually. The QBCC’s standard is one licensed inspection every twelve months where hazard is high, and CSIRO’s national termite survey rates this part of Queensland high hazard. Some Dinmore housing traces back to the 1887 township subdivision, so age is the driver here. Set up a termite inspection and we will keep the schedule running for you.
I'm renting in Dinmore. Can I book a treatment?
Usually it needs to go through your property manager or owner, as they are who we invoice and who gets the certificate. With more than half of Dinmore rented this is routine for us. Ring us regardless if something is active and we will tell you what to put in writing to your manager, which normally gets it moving.
How quickly can you get to Dinmore?
Same day or next in most cases, weekends included, and sitting at a three-highway junction makes access easy. Call 1300 545 489 and say if it is urgent. Commercial sites with an active problem should flag it plainly, since those frequently have a compliance deadline attached.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
All general pest treatments carry twelve months, with free re-treatment of anything listed on your certificate that returns in that window. Termite jobs and rodent baiting are quoted apart and warranted apart, as are commercial contracts. Our terms and conditions set out the detail in full.
