Our Local KNowledge
COMMON PESTS IN SPRING MOUNTAIN
Spring Mountain went from effectively nothing to 6,085 people between the 2016 and 2021 censuses. That is about as fast as a suburb can appear. It sits within Greater Springfield, roughly two kilometres south-west of Springfield Central, and the principal estate is Springfield Rise, made up of eight neighbourhoods including The Boulevard, Creekwood, The Crossing, Forest Ridge, The Highlands, Park Lane, Sunset Ridge and Valley View. Spring Mountain State School opened in 2019 with 55 students and had reached 195 by 2020, in a building designed for 760.
Worth correcting a very common shorthand: people call this Springfield, but Spring Mountain is its own gazetted Ipswich locality with its own boundaries and its own state school. It is not part of Springfield Lakes or Springfield Central. That matters practically because the pest picture here is genuinely different from the rest of Greater Springfield, and the reason is what sits along the boundary.
Spring Mountain abuts the White Rock and Spring Mountain Conservation Estate, which covers more than 2,500 hectares and protects a diversity of flora including rare and threatened species, with tracks running from a 200 metre walk up to the 19 kilometre Yaddamun Trail. White Rock itself, known culturally as Nugum or Boogun, is a significant Aboriginal cultural heritage landmark, and the estate contains protected cultural heritage sites. New housing sitting directly against a reserve that size is the strongest bushland interface of any growth suburb in this batch, and it is the single most useful thing to understand about pest pressure here.
Termites
TERMITE INSPECTIONS IN SPRING MOUNTAIN
Termites do more damage to Australian homes annually than fire, flood and storms combined, and it is uninsurable. CSIRO national termite survey records this region as high hazard. Here the two risks run in parallel: very new housing where owners assume they are covered, and a conservation estate of over 2,500 hectares immediately alongside a lot of that housing.
On slab-on-ground homes we focus on the slab edge, weep holes and the inspection zone that a physical barrier depends on staying visible, plus the roof void, internal walls, the full perimeter and yard timber, read with a moisture meter and thermal camera. On blocks backing the reserve we spend materially longer on the rear boundary, because Coptotermes acinaciformis makes its nest low in stumps and tree bases, foraging as far as 50 metres, and 2,500 hectares of protected bushland is a very large supply of both.
The builder’s system question comes up constantly in a suburb this new, so here is the honest answer. It is a barrier with a working life and, for several types, conditions that depend on the inspection zone remaining clear and visible. Finishing your landscaping is often the moment that protection quietly stops working. We will show you exactly where that has happened if it has. The QBCC’s published minimum is a yearly licensed inspection in high hazard areas.
What you get
What's Included in a Pest Treatment
A few minutes spraying the outside walls is not a treatment. Indoors comes first, through the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, wardrobes and skirting boards, then up into the roof void and down into the subfloor where there is one.
Externally we work the perimeter, eaves, window and door frames, weep holes, fence lines and garden beds, clearing webbing and wasp nests and placing dust or bait into voids that spraying cannot reach. On a reserve-backing block we walk the rear boundary specifically, since stacked timber, mulch and clippings against that fence give everything crossing over somewhere to settle. We also check anything added since handover.
Most homes here are larger than average and run toward 90 minutes. The certificate is emailed the same day with your next reminder already set.

Frequently Asked Questions
Spring Mountain Pest Control FAQs
The things people ask us most before they book.
How much does pest control cost in Spring Mountain?
Homes here run larger than average, so the quote follows the property rather than a flat rate. Call 1300 545 489, describe the house, and the number we give you is the number you pay, at no charge for the quote. Do mention if you back onto the conservation estate, because it changes what we look for and what interval we would suggest.
We back onto the conservation estate. What comes across the fence?
More of everything that lives in 2,500 hectares of protected bushland. Spiders working the fence line, rodents using the reserve as permanent habitat, wasp activity, snakes in the warmer months, and a genuine termite risk from stumps, fallen timber and mature trees well inside foraging range of your house. It is the reason people buy on that side of the estate and it is entirely manageable, with a shorter inspection cycle and a clear rear boundary doing most of the work.
Is Spring Mountain part of Springfield?
Not as a suburb, no, though it sits within Greater Springfield and people use the names interchangeably. Spring Mountain is its own gazetted Ipswich locality with its own boundaries and its own state school, which opened in 2019. We service the whole area, so if you are unsure which side of a boundary your address falls on, tell us the street and we will confirm it. It matters here more than usual because the reserve changes the pest picture considerably.
My house is nearly new. Is a termite inspection necessary?
Yes, and in this suburb the reserve makes it more so rather than less. A builder’s termite management system is a barrier with a working life and maintenance conditions, not a permanent seal, and several types stop doing their job once landscaping covers the inspection zone. Pair a barrier that has been quietly bridged with a colony living in bushland forty metres away and you have the situation we are trying to help people avoid.
How often should I get a termite inspection in Spring Mountain?
Twelve months as a baseline, and every six to nine months if you back onto the reserve. The QBCC advises no longer than twelve months between inspections in high hazard areas and CSIRO’s national hazard survey rates the region high. Book a termite inspection and the next one gets flagged automatically.
How quickly can you get to Spring Mountain?
Usually same or next day, weekends included, and the Centenary Highway makes the Greater Springfield area straightforward to reach. Ring 1300 545 489 and say if it is urgent, whether that is a wasp nest at an entry, something in the roof, or activity you have just spotted along a fence line.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Every general pest treatment is covered for a full year, so anything named on your certificate that reappears in that time is re-treated free. Termite treatment and rodent baiting sit on their own quote and their own warranty. The detail is all in our terms and conditions.
